PROJECT EQUILIBRIUM Every decision makes a difference.
What difference will YOU make today?

"The three domains of nature, economy, and society (including culture) must all develop but NOT at the expense of each other. ALL sustainable development issues always cut across these three domains." Agenda 21, UNDESA Division for Sustainable Development
From consumer purchases to corporate practices, every decision sets off waves of consequences. With the overload of “green” messaging, it’s difficult to know what the right thing to do really is. We all need help thinking about the potential outcomes of our decisions before we act.
How sustainable are one’s choices on a daily basis? Are they in equilibrium?
THE IDEA...
Project Equilibrium is an online decision-making tool that helps all of us balance decisions with regard to the three critical domains of sustainable development: Environment, Society, and Economy.
Like the online carbon footprint tool, Project Equilibrium fosters awareness and helps people and organizations shift toward a more balanced way of thinking and acting.
The tool aids with everyday decisions, such as what kind of car to buy, where to vacation, and where to shop.
When deciding where to shop, for example, the tool questions and applies a rating based on sustainable principles: Are the employees treated fairly? Is the establishment taking steps to reduce its carbon footprint? Does it support the local community? Are the products fair trade? Are local products represented?
The process itself educates users on sustainable practices, and the online tool is “smart” – learning from user input to provide recommendations. “Discussions” from the human-web interaction are saved, making each person's thinking available to the next, allowing us to learn from each other and improve our decision-making practices.
Every decision makes a difference. What difference will YOU make today?
